Interior Life of Mountains
Interior Life of Mountains
84×48” Acrylic
This contemporary three-piece painting (triptych) offers a striking, modern of a northern landscape, where alpine meets pastoral. The composition is anchored by a looming mountain range above to an expansive, beautiful yellow field unfolding across the foothills.
Rather than relying on traditional landscapes, the field’s palette introduces a dreamlike, avant-garde quality; it is woven with unusual sage greens and soft blues, an intentional stylistic nod to the late 19th-century French Nabi movement, which favored flat zones of soft blue and brown colors, symbolic interpretation of nature over strict realism. In the immediate foreground, the canvas has line of gnarly pine trees, their branches beautifully twisted by the harsh northern winds, stands in stark, contrast to the elegant, slender forms of nearby birch trees. Together across the three panels, these contrasting textures and the unexpected, high-keyed color harmonies create a powerful sense of atmospheric nostalgia and modern emotional depth.
